With more than five years of experience analyzing global clean energy and environmental issues, Vanessa Ferrero launched Ferrero Consulting, LLC to support organizations in the energy industry through research and analysis, strategy and planning, and communications services.
Vanessa has worked with nearly 50 electric utilities around the world, whose operations span across every continent. She has also produced work for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). Vanessa has supported companies in countries including Australia, Barbados, Brazil, British Virgin Islands, Canada, China, Côte d'Ivoire, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kosovo, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, New Zealand, Philippines, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
Before Ferrero Consulting, Vanessa was the manager for international programs at Edison Electric Institute (EEI), where she planned and executed more than 50 technical webinars, strategic dialogues, regional roundtables, and other events on topics including the clean energy transition, electric vehicles, hydrogen, storage, resilience, and finance. Previously, she was an energy sector associate at Tetra Tech, where she supported projects like USAID's Engendering Utilities (now Engendering Industries) and Powering Agriculture.
In addition to Ferrero Consulting, Vanessa serves on the Board of Directors of the Women's Council on Energy and the Environment (WCEE). In 2021, she was recognized in Public Utilities Fortnightly's Under Forty list as a rising star in the energy industry. She also recently completed the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Management and Leadership Accelerator Series.
Vanessa earned her master’s degree in energy and the environment with a certificate in international development policy from Duke University. She has a BSE in chemical engineering and a BA in French from Arizona State University. She is a native Spanish and English speaker, fluent in French, and also proficient in Italian and Portuguese.

Paper highlighting successes and challenges associated with introducing clean energy-powered cold storage equipment into developing communities, with recommendations for donors and technology providers. Co-author.
Annual Conference
Led planning and execution for this virtual event, including agenda development, logistics, marketing, and sponsorship. The 2021 GEF welcomed nearly 700 registrants from more than 30 countries, featuring 60+ speakers with 20 sessions across two weeks.
Plan
Created a multi-year strategy for a department, including activities and programming, revenue and budget forecasts, and staffing plans to achieve long-term goals, including a goal to double revenue within three years.
Podcast Launch
Led the development and launch of a new podcast series (The Global Circuit) on the trends shaping the future of the electric power industry, which achieved more than 1,500 downloads within a year.
COP26 Webinar Series
Organized six webinars as part of a COP26 webinar series, on topics including carbon-free technologies, climate resilience, supply chain risk, climate finance, and going from policy to action. More than 750 people registered for the sessions, which featured 15 speakers.
Increase Engagement
Developed a social media plan that led to a 60% increase in Twitter followers and a 150% increase in engagement over 1.5 years.

Improved design and developed content for a monthly newsletter delivered to thousands of subscribers.
